#ChangeTheNow started in 2019 as a region-wide Changemaking movement hosted by Georgian College – Canada’s first and only Ashoka Changemaker College - in partnership with Ashoka Canada and the Simcoe County District School Board.

Today #ChangeTheNow brings together a global community of socially focused students, educators, faculty and community members inspiring them to create the positive change they would like to see. It uses virtual and remote learning platforms to connect, engage and equip Changemakers from around the world to innovate together.

#ChangeTheNow, is supported by the team at the Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation at Georgian College. This support includes coaching for interested educators, faculty, youth facilitators and leaders on how to use creative innovation frameworks such as human centred design thinking, systems thinking and compelling conversations to respond to the calls to action under the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals

As an educator, faculty or youth facilitator in the community, the goal of #ChangeTheNow is to support you in amplifying Changemaking skills and mindsets - empathy, creativity, leadership and the ability to take action - in your classrooms or programs. For your students, the goal of #ChangeTheNow is to provide the opportunity to develop their creative confidence in designing the positive change they would like to see in their communities.

Through participation in #ChangeTheNow, students and educators together can generate passion and purpose about social issues, creating the space to contribute locally to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
